How to export captions from CapCut Mobile

What CapCut mobile can and cannot do

CapCut's official help documents Auto Captions on iOS and Android and describes Caption Export troubleshooting on mobile. Feature visibility can still vary by account, version, and region, so do not assume every phone will show the same SRT or TXT controls.

Exporting a video with visible captions is different from exporting an editable subtitle file. The first burns or renders text into the video image; the second produces SRT or TXT that can be opened in another editor. Check the wording in the export panel carefully.

Export captions from CapCut Mobile when available

   Confirm that the captions are visible and timed correctly on the mobile timeline.

   Correct recognition mistakes before export because the subtitle file will reflect the current caption text.

   Open the export screen after the Auto Captions are ready.

   Turn off Video Export, enable Caption Export, and choose SRT for timed subtitles or TXT for readable dialogue.

Why this website cannot select a CapCut phone project

Mobile operating systems isolate app data. A normal website cannot browse another app's private project directory, and asking users to grant broad phone storage access would not reliably expose CapCut's internal draft structure. The folder picker in this tool is therefore intended for desktop CapCut projects on Windows or macOS.

This limitation protects user data and prevents a misleading workflow. Selecting a downloaded video, a cloud link, or an exported package is not the same as selecting a desktop folder that contains draft_content.json or draft_info.json.

Use a desktop handoff when mobile has no SRT option

If your account supports project synchronization, open the same project in CapCut Desktop or Web and check the caption export options there. Feature availability still varies, so verify that all captions and timing survived the handoff before exporting.

When you can access the saved desktop project folder, the draft-based exporter becomes an alternative. Open the Path shown in the desktop Details panel, select that single project folder, review the output, and save SRT or text locally. Avoid unofficial instructions that require rooting a phone or exposing unrelated application data.

• Need subtitles embedded in the video: use normal video export.
• Need a reusable timed file: look for Caption Export and SRT.
• Need script-only text: use TXT if offered, or extract plain text from a desktop draft.
